What is a ‘Good Faith Estimate’?

A Good Faith Estimate is provided to clients who do not have insurance or choose not to use it. It outlines the expected cost of services with your provider. By law, you must receive this estimate, and if you are billed at least $400 more than the listed amount, you have the right to dispute the charge. You can view your past estimates anytime through your client portal. If you are using insurance, your copays and out‑of‑pocket costs are determined by your insurance plan, not by your therapist. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
